Overview

The Aire de MADRID app is a dedicated Android application developed by Ayuntamiento de Madrid to provide real-time air quality monitoring for the city. The app is particularly useful for residents, commuters, outdoor enthusiasts, and individuals with respiratory sensitivities who rely on accurate environmental data for decision-making.

By leveraging data from the City of Madrid’s official air quality monitoring system, Aire de MADRID updates hourly with numerical values and quality indices for various pollutants at each measurement point. This ensures users receive timely and reliable information. The app also includes predictive features, offering expected air quality levels for the current day and the following day, which supports proactive planning for outdoor activities. Additionally, the app promotes civic engagement through the “Econsultas” section, which offers practical guidance on how individuals can contribute to improving air quality in the city.

As a free tool, Aire de MADRID serves both the general public and environmental professionals seeking accessible, official data. Its focus on transparency and public awareness aligns with broader urban sustainability goals. The app is specifically tailored for Android users and is available on Google Play without cost.

Key Features & Capabilities

• Real-time Air Quality Monitoring: Provides live updates on pollution levels at official monitoring stations across Madrid, with data refreshed hourly.
• Quality Index Display: Translates complex pollutant measurements into easy-to-understand air quality indices for better public comprehension.
• Forecast Predictions: Offers expected air quality trends for today and tomorrow, helping users plan outdoor activities and reduce exposure during high-pollution periods.
